03FAQ

JPG to ICO Questions

Are my JPG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser using WebAssembly, so your JPG files never leave your device. Nothing is stored, and the page keeps working even on a slow connection.

Will converting JPG to ICO reduce quality?

Icons are small by nature, so your image is scaled down to each icon size (up to 256 × 256). For the sharpest result, start from a square image at least 256 pixels wide; the smaller sizes use high-quality downscaling.

Which icon sizes should I include?

16 and 32 pixels are used by browser tabs, 48 by Windows Explorer and 256 by high-resolution displays. The default set covers all of them; extra sizes only add a few kilobytes.

Will the ICO file be bigger or smaller?

Icon files are small, usually under 100 KB, depending on which sizes you include.

Is the JPG to ICO converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Convert up to 50 files per batch, as many times as you like.
