03FAQ

WebP to PNG Questions

Are my WebP files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser using WebAssembly, so your WebP files never leave your device. Nothing is stored, and the page keeps working even on a slow connection.

Will converting WebP to PNG reduce quality?

No further quality is lost: PNG stores every pixel exactly. Any detail already discarded by WebP compression can’t be restored, though, so the result looks the same as the original rather than better.

Is transparency kept?

Yes. PNG supports full transparency, so soft edges, shadows and see-through areas come through intact.

What about animated WebP files?

Only the first frame is converted, producing a still PNG. Animation isn’t carried over in this version.

Will the PNG file be bigger or smaller?

Usually larger. PNG keeps every pixel, while WebP discards detail to save space. For a smaller file, consider WebP or JPG instead.

Is the WebP to PNG converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Convert up to 50 files per batch, as many times as you like.
